Edit Field

You can use the Edit Field automation to change a selected field to a specific value on a ticket.

To add an Edit Field automation:

Note: Make sure the action is enabled.

  1. Hover over a transition line below the Action to view and click the icon. Select the Edit Field automation in the Select automation... drop-down. The Automation Properties Panel displays.

  2. In the Name field, enter a name for the automation.

  3. In the Description field, type a description of the automation.

  4. In the Field Name field, select the name of the field you want to modify. This will determine which values can be entered in the Value field.

  5. In the Value Type field, first select what type of value you will be entering.

    • Literal: Select a value that already exists in ChangeGear or enter a specific date, then select a Value from the drop-down.

    • Expression: Enter an SQL expression and/or a ChangeGear substitution variable to calculate the value. Use the test button to check the validity of the expression or variable.

Note: Support for Expression is deprecated beginning ChangeGear 9.0 and will be available only to support backward compatibility on existing automations.

  6. In the Rules tab, use the Criteria Builder to add conditions to the automation.

  7. Click the three-dot menu next to the workflow name , then Save or Publish the workflow.

Note: The history tab will reflect changes made.
