SNMPv3 Supported Encryption Types

The Asset Discovery Expert supports the following hashing and encryption methods for SNMPv3:

Hashing

  • HMAC-SHA-96

  • HMAC-MD5-96 (deprecated)

Encryption

  • AES-128

  • DES (deprecated) 

  • 3DES (deprecated)

Note: DES, 3DES, and MD5 have been deprecated. For new encoding, the deprecated options won't be available. It's strongly recommended to transition to more secure alternatives as soon as possible. After you've migrated to a recommended encryption method and saved your changes, you will not be able to revert to any deprecated encryption types.
